Traveling Carpenter – Healthcare Construction

Location: Southeast U.S. (Travel-Based: Must live within one hour of Gastonia, NC)

Job Summary:

We are seeking a Traveling Carpenter with healthcare construction experience, particularly on medical imaging projects. This is a 100% travel position to job sites throughout the Southeastern U.S. Travel typically occurs Monday through Friday, with most weekends at home. Must live within one hour of Gastonia, NC.

The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated, skilled carpenter with an eye for detail and a commitment to safety, quality, and client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

Carpentry and Installation:

  • Perform carpentry tasks including framing, drywall, cabinetry, finishing, and trim work.
  • Install fixtures, doors, windows, molding, and structural components.
  • Measure, cut, and shape materials such as wood, plastic, or composites.
  • Follow technical drawings, blueprints, and construction documents to complete accurate installations.
  • Utilize manual and power tools efficiently, including saws, drills, and measurement tools.

Healthcare Construction Standards:

  • Ensure all tasks meet healthcare construction standards and client specifications.
  • Inspect and repair damaged structures or frameworks to maintain project quality.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment to promote safety and efficiency.

Team Collaboration and Supervision:

  • Work closely with other trades and supervise laborers or helpers as needed.
  • Coordinate with site managers and project supervisors to ensure workflow continuity.
  • Communicate project progress and any safety concerns to the site foreman.

Requirements:

Experience:

  • Proven experience as a Carpenter in healthcare construction or medical facility projects.
  • Strong understanding of carpentry techniques, tools, and construction practices.
  • Experience with framing, drywall, cabinetry, and trim work.

Technical Skills:

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and construction documents.
  • Proficiency with manual and power tools (e.g., saws, drills, measuring equipment).
  • Familiarity with healthcare construction standards and OSHA safety regulations.

Physical Requirements:

  • Excellent physical condition and stamina to work in dynamic site environments.
  • Ability to lift heavy materials and work in various conditions.

Travel Requirements:

  • Willingness to travel 100% during the week (typically Monday–Thursday/Friday).
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
