Elementary Music Teacher The Basilica School of St. Mary Star of the Sea Key West, Florida The Basilica School of St. Mary Star of the Sea, a vibrant Catholic PreK-8 school in beautiful Key West, Florida, seeks a passionate and talented Elementary Music Teacher to join our faculty. This position offers a unique opportunity to cultivate a love of music while supporting the liturgical and spiritual life of our parish-school community. Position Summary The Elementary Music Teacher is responsible for developing and implementing an engaging music curriculum for students in grades PreK-8, fostering musical appreciation, creativity, performance skills, and participation in the rich liturgical traditions of the Catholic Church. The successful candidate will inspire students through classroom instruction, musical performances, and school-wide celebrations while contributing positively to the mission of Catholic education. Compensation Salary is dependent upon experience, credentials, and employment status (full-time versus after-school/part-time arrangements). Salary Range: $68,000-$88,000 annually In addition, the school may offer:

Essential Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver engaging music instruction for elementary and middle school students.
  • Develop age-appropriate lessons in music theory, vocal music, rhythm, movement, and musical appreciation.
  • Direct student performances, concerts, and special musical presentations throughout the school year.
  • Prepare students for participation in school Masses, liturgical celebrations, and other parish-school events.
  • Collaborate with clergy, administration, faculty, and parish musicians to support the liturgical life of the school.
  • Foster student confidence, creativity, and a lifelong appreciation for music.
  • Maintain a positive, orderly, and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress and performance opportunities.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events as required.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Music Education, Music Performance, Music Ministry, or a related field (master's degree preferred).
  • Florida teaching certification or eligibility to obtain certification preferred.
  • Experience teaching elementary-age students.
  • Strong vocal and/or instrumental proficiency.
  • Experience directing choirs, ensembles, or student performances.
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
