Job Description

The Role
As the Graphic Designer & Content Creator, you’ll be a core member of the Goldman Environmental Prize’s communications team, reporting to the Communications Director. You’ll create visual content that supports communications about the Prize and its winners. Working closely with the communications team and other staff and vendors, you’ll design digital and print materials, edit and produce short-form video, create organic and paid social media content, develop and maintain brand templates and visual assets, and create event collateral.

The Opportunity
This is a newly created role for the Foundation, and you’ll have the chance to shape it from the start. Through graphic design, video production, and digital and print content creation, you’ll help bring the work of Goldman Environmental Prize winners to audiences around the world. As your familiarity with the organization grows, you’ll have the opportunity to take on increasing responsibility for brand development, content strategy, and campaign planning in partnership with the communications team.

Key Responsibilities
- Create compelling visual assets for digital and print media, including social media, website, email campaigns, event collateral, and other communication materials
- Maintain and evolve design templates, graphics, and layouts based on brand guidelines
- Collaborate with the communications team to translate concepts into impactful visuals
- Edit and produce short-form videos about Prize winners, including quick-turnaround phone-shot content
- Manage a library of visual assets (videos, photos, branding)
- Exercise discretion and sensitivity representing Prize winners across diverse global and political contexts, with a communication style that's inclusive and grounded in storytelling
- Stay current on design technology and AI-assisted tools
- Support Prize winners and staff during annual Prize tour in April

As the role evolves, you may also contribute to:
- A dynamic annual campaign and brand playbook
- Strategy development, editorial calendar planning, and content planning
- Light copywriting and social media content planning
- Additional responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications
-Three to five years of experience in graphic design and content creation, whether gained in an agency, in-house, freelance, or cross-functional role. This is not an entry-level position, but we are open to nonlinear career paths.
- Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) or comparable design tools, PowerPoint, and video editing software (Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, CapCut or similar)
- Experience creating content for social media platforms and digital campaigns
- Understanding of branding and its importance for a nonprofit, mission-driven organization
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Sound judgment communicating about sensitive or politically complex topics
- Proactive and resourceful, with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage competing priorities under deadlines
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to grow (and grow with) a new organizational role and make it your own
- Interest in environmental issues and climate change
- Communications or marketing experience
- Comfort with and curiosity about new tools, including AI-assisted design/editing workflows
